Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions? We’ve got answers.
Here are some common questions we get asked:
Cabinet Painting Questions
Yes, we spray your entire set of cabinets, frames included. The benefit for you is two-fold. First, every square inch of your cabinets will have a factory finish that is superior to the brushed and rolled look.
Secondly, our spray painting process is faster, so you’ll have your kitchen back to normal a lot sooner than someone painting everything by hand.
Absolutely. The most important part of painting cabinets is the prep work. We have a meticulous process for preparing cabinets to ensure long-term durability.
On top of that, we also spray high quality materials that are designed exclusively for cabinets and furniture. We do not spray trim paint onto your cabinets like a lot of painters do.
The completion time for cabinet frames (wall boxes) is usually 4 to 5 days max. The doors and drawers, which are sprayed in our work space, can take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks.
The total amount of time it will take to paint your cabinets largely depends on the size of your kitchen and the type of wood. Oak cabinets, for example, always take longer because there is a grain filling process involved.
Once we speak with you about your kitchen and view pictures, we can give you a time frame for how long it will take to finish everything.
If you’re looking for cabinet painters near you, we paint cabinets in Crystal Lake, Lake in the Hills, Huntley, Algonquin, Fox River Grove, Mchenry, Island Lake and Woodstock.
We also do work for homeowners in Spring Grove and Johnsburg.
If you’re refinishing or replacing your floor, it is strongly recommended to have the cabinets painted after the floor is done otherwise the freshly painted base cabinets could be damaged.
With countertop replacements, the painting can be done before or after the install, but to be safe, it’s usually best to paint after the install. However, we’ve painted kitchens more than once where the install took place after the cabinets were painted with zero problems. We carefully cover the countertop either way.
House Painting Questions
No one is required to be home while painting is in progress. The homeowner must be present on the last day of the job for a final walk-through.
If you’re at home while we paint, we work efficiently with very little disruption to your household.
Yes, we use both zero and low VOC paints for painting walls, ceilings and trim. The paint has minimal odor when wet and the smell diminishes quickly once dry.
We have had customers walk in the door and comment that they cannot smell the paint. This means you can paint in the middle of the winter with the windows closed and not have to worry about paint fume sensitivities.
