Recently, we had the pleasure of working with a repeat client in Crystal Lake, IL to transform their living room into a sophisticated and welcoming space using the captivating color, Silver Point.

Silver Point is a versatile and elegant hue that belongs to the gray family, known for its ability to create a serene and calming ambiance. Our goal was to harness the unique qualities of Silver Point to breathe new life into our client’s outdated living room without making the room look darker.
Pairing Silver Point with Pure White on the ceiling, the two colors brightened up the room significantly. The new paint required two coats to fully cover over the darker sage green. Unless we’re painting the same color, we always apply two coats on walls for the best finish.

The customer was kind enough to clear out the room before we started the painting. The two bookcases were too heavy to move out of the room so we just covered them with plastic.
The entire floor was carefully covered with thick drop cloths before patching the walls and painting. We also use green Frogtape to tape off the trim. We find this tape to be more effective for preventing paint leakage than blue tape.
The walls were beat up and needed patching to fill nail holes and damage. After patching the walls, we sanded them and began painting the ceiling first. The walls were painted two coats after the ceiling was dry.
The ceiling was in good shape and only required one coat to achieve solid coverage. We painted the ceiling with the color Pure White, our favorite color for ceilings and trim.
We finished painting the living room, walls and ceiling, all in one day. We can usually paint rooms of this size in one day, but if we’re painting the doors and trim too, or if the walls are high, it will usually take two days to finish the job. We do a thorough clean up at the end of the job which includes vacuuming and/or sweeping the floor. We dispose of leftover paint buckets, tape, and plastic.
